2 teens dead and 2 injured in car crash

Emanuel James Smith, 17, and his brother Byron Smith, 15, of Bronson were killed on Monday after their car struck a tree.

According to Smith’s friends, the brothers were street racing with two teenage girls in another car when Smith’s Ford Mustang collided with the girls’ Ford Expedition SUV and both cars crashed into trees.

Both brothers were pronounced dead at the scene, and SUV driver, Jackie Rinehart, and passenger, Chanelle Gunthrop, were taken to nearby hospitals. Rinehart is in fair condition, and Gunthrop is in critical condition.

Our thoughts and condolences are with the victims’ families.
