4 Detroit hospitals earn an ‘A’ for patient safety

The Leapfrog Group, a non-profit organization, has released a compilation of patient safety scores for hospitals across the country. These scores are largely focused on a patient’s safety in a hospital, instead of individual patient care by a certain doctor residing in that hospital.

Scores were determined based off of 26 factors. These factors included data on patient injuries inside a hospital, medical errors that occurred, and infections that were spread from patient to patient in that hospital. All of the data that was used is also available to the public.

There were four different hospitals in the Detroit area that were included in the study. All four of the hospitals received an ‘A’ letter grade for their safety standards. This score means that these hospitals had the highest patient safety standards, and that their data reflected that.
