1.7 million Maytag dishwashers recalled

Posted on June 3rd, 2010 No Comments

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Whirlpool Corp have voluntarily recalled 1.7 million dishwashers from the Maytag unit due to potential fire hazard.

The recall comes after 12 reports of failing heating elements were reported to the product maker. Each failure lead to a fire that caused serious damage to the dishwasher and extensive damage to a kitchen in one case. Besides the Maytag brand, the recall also includes Amana, Crosley and Jenn-Air. Consumers are encouraged to call Maytag to see if their dishwasher has been effected by the recall.
