One killed, one injured in car and train collision

One person was killed and one was injured after a car slammed into the side of a train in Woodhaven on Sunday.

The accident occurred east of Interstate 75 at 2:25 a.m. when the car drove around the crossing gates and struck the train. The gates were down and the warning lights were flashing as the 10 to 12 car train passed through the tracks.

A 21-year-old man was killed in the accident and his friend, both from Detroit, was injured. Officials have said that the incident is under investigation and no further information is available as of now.

Car and train accidents can seriously injure anyone involved, our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victims.
