Detroit policewoman struck by postal truck

Posted on August 27th, 2010 No Comments

Monday afternoon around 4:30 PM, a Detroit policewoman was struck by a postal service truck while driving her motorcycle.  Witnesses say they saw 43-year old Sonya Justice’s bike flip and that she was unresponsive after the accident.

Two witnesses quickly called 911 but were unable to get through to a dispatcher.  After a couple failed attempts, one witness, Blair Mahone, rushed over to Justice and used her radio to reach Detroit Police.  ”I noticed that the officer was unresponsive, but she was breathing, so I grabbed her radio and I said, ‘Officer down’,” stated Mahone.

An ambulance quickly arrived on the scene and transported Justice to Detroit Receiving Hospital where she was in critical condition.
