Voluntary recall of dog food issued

Posted on October 11th, 2010 No Comments

A recall of dog food has been issued from Blue Buffalo Inc. because the products had higher than normal levels of Vitamin D.

The recall includes Wilderness Chicken-Dog, Basics Salmon-Dog, and Large Breed Adult Products after it was found that the supplier ordered a vitamin D supplement before preparing the ingredients and it is thought that some of the vitamin D supplement carried over into their product meaning that their products had more vitamin D then usual.

There is no immediate health risk to an increase in vitamin D, but if the dog shows any negative reactions to it, they should be taken to the veterinarian as soon as possible.

Toy dart gun recalled after death of two boys

The government has recalled 1.8 toy dart gun sets after the death of two boys, ages nine and 10.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the two boys died after they chewed on the soft plastic darts and they slipped down there throats. The small suction cup part of the dart then cut off their breathing.

The “Auto Fire” toy dart set was sold exclusively at Family Dollar stores nationwide from September 2005 to January 2009. The agency is urging that all parents and guardians take this toy away from their children and Family Dollar has offered a refund for the toy.

Poorly manufactured products are a hazard to the public and can cause injury or death to people who use them. Our thoughts go out to family of the two victims.
