Samaritans help in Detroit car accident

A one-car crash on I-94 in Detroit caused a portion of the highway to be shutdown in order to help victims. Good Samaritans also jumped into help after witnessing the crash.

Police are continuing to investigate the accident that caused the driver to lose control of the car an crash into a pedestrian bridge. The car then landed in an embankment trapping seven people inside.

Vehicles then pulled over on the side of the road in order to pull the victims from the burning car. All people were taken to the hospital in order to be treated for their serious injuries.

Three still in hospital after a five-car crash

A five-car accident left five people injured and three of them are still recovering in the hospital. The accident occurred in Roseville on Jan. 15 on Gratiot Avenue.

At 9:30 a.m. a black mini van was traveling down 12 Mile Road when he ran a red light through the intersection causing him strike two cars.

The vehicles that were struck then struck two more vehicles. After the accident, five people were transported them the hospital, but two people were treated and released. The road was wet at the time, but there was not overnight snow on the roadways anymore.

Detroit Car Accident Sends 3 to Hospital

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident outside of Detroit Tuesday morning.

Officials with the Michigan State Patrol say the accident occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Highway 59 South. A southbound 1994 Ford Escort stopped abruptly to make a left turn onto County Road 22 and was rear-ended by a 1993 Buick Park Avenue, which was then struck from behind by a 1994 Chevy pickup truck, according to the accident report.

The driver of the Park Avenue and two passengers were transported by St. Mary’s Ambulance to St. Mary’s Essentia hospital in Detroit Lakes.

The driver of the Ford Escort, 35 year-old Anthony R. Goulet, of Detroit Lakes, was not injured in the accident. Police say 41 year-old Frazee-resident Christopher D. Wacker was the driver of the pickup truck. His injuries were not documented in the police report.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the crash.

Grandmother Killed, Grandson Injured in Detroit Car Accident

A grandmother was killed, and her grandson seriously injured Monday afternoon in a Detroit car accident, authorities say.

According to officials with the Detroit Police Department, the accident occurred on the Interstate 96 service drive shortly after 4:00 p.m. Monday. Police say the 53 year-old woman was driving a Ford Explorer SUV when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree between Outer Drive and Evergreen Avenue. The vehicle came to rest on it’s side.

The woman’s nine year-old grandson suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Eren Stephens said.

Neither occupant of the vehicle was reportedly wearing a seat belt. The victims names and other information were not immediately available.

Teenager killed after crashing into tree

A teenager was killed in a one-car accident after he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a tree.

According to Michigan State Police, the 17-year-old was driving east when he lost control of the vehicle on a gravel road. After the car left the road, it crashed into a tree and caught fire. The car was totaled and the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency crews. Further details of the accident are still investigated.

Two Detroit students killed, two injured in accident

Two Detroit students were killed in a car accident hours after graduation. Two others involved in the accident were injured.

High school classmates are now mourning the loss of their friends and classmates. One student was driving and their vehicle crashed into the side of an abandoned church just blocks away from the high school.

Two of the teens are currently recovering in the hospital. One of them is in good condition and one of them is in fair condition. A fund has been set up for the families of the victim.

Construction company recieves safety award

The Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration has awarded the Clark Construction Company an award for outstanding safety.

The company has gone more than nine years without a lost time accident. The award was given to the CEO of the company at MIOSHA’s annual meeting. The CEO said that it was an honor to be recognized as a leader in safety and that he is happy to spread the message that having a safe workplace is a great business decision.

Two police officers, two others injured in car accident

A woman was traveling northbound when her car was struck by a police car that was traveling west.

According to the woman, the police car was going through the light when the police car hit her causing her to spin in circles before coming to a stop.

The two police officers in the vehicle were transported to the hospital to be treated for their injuries. The woman and her 18-year-old son were treated at the scene. An investigation is underway to find out the cause of the accident.

Two-car accident in Detroit injures two people

Two people were taken to the hospital after an accident between a car and a truck at the corner of 7 mile and Sussex on April 14.

The crash happened at 4 a.m. when a car and pickup truck slammed into each other at an intersection. Police say that officers were advised of a reckless driver in the area and were following the truck, but the driver then sped away.

The police officer then activated his lights and moments later the pickup truck slammed into the car. After the accident, the driver of the car was in critical condition and the suspect, who was driving the truck, was in serious condition.
