A highway worker from Michigan City was struck by a motorist and injured in a construction accident on Interstate 94 near Burns Harbor.

The man was working to fill cracks on the highway in a construction zone that was clearly marked with signs, message boards, and arrow boards. Around 3 a.m. a motorist did a U-turn in the construction zone and hit the worker. The worker was carried on the car for 35 feet before being thrown from the car and the driver then fled the scene.
