Offcials investigate industrial accident in Detroit

Officials investigate an industrial accident in Detroit at Highland Park Water Department that left one dead.

The 32-year-old man was found with burns covering nearly 95 percent of his body and he was barely able to breathe. He was found in a lot at the Water Department in Detroit and was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead the next day.

Police were investigating the accident that they thought was an industrial accident, but some evidence shows that the man may have been intentionally lit on fire. The incident remains under investigation at this time.

Man killed in Sylvan Lake industrial accident

One employee for a landscaping company was killed after being involved in a industrial accident in Sylvan Lake.

Officials with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department have stated that the accident occurred at 9 a.m. at Aquafina Landscaping. The man was working on a Bobcat when the raised bucket struck him in the head.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene by emergency officials. The investigation into the accident is still underway at this time.

Man’s arm severly injured in gravel pit accident

A man from Munising was injured in a workplace accident at a gravel pit last week.

According to Michigan State Patrol the accident occurred at the Alger County Gravel Pit around 4:30 p.m. as the man worked to fix the conveyor belt on the gravel pit machine.

As he tried to fix the belt, his right arm got caught in the belt causing it to be severely injured. The man then called 911 and was transported to Marquette General Hospital, but the extent of his injuries are unknown at this point. He has since been released from the hospital.

Man killed by forklift in industrial accident

A man from Michigan City was killed in a workplace industrial accident at Bulk Transport’s yard in ArcelorMittal.

The 57-year-old mechanic was killed after the forklift he was working on fell over on him, according to the county coroner. The forklift was picked up by a loader in order for it be worked on when it collapsed and fell on top of the mechanic.

The mechanic was alone working on the forklift and was later found by a  Matco Tools employee. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will be conducting an investigation.
