One killed, four injured in boating accident

One man was killed and four other were injured in a boating accident in Grand River on May 30.

The boat was traveling with dim or no lights when it struck a rock formation near the entrance of Bruce’s Bayou. The boat’s 41-year-old driver was killed instantly after being pinned between the steering column and the front seat.

His 44-year-old wife was flown to the hospital in Grand Rapids where she remains in critical condition. A 9-year-old child and 12-year-old child also suffered minor injuries along with their 30-year-old mother who were all riding in the back of the boat.

Boating accidents can happen when least expected, our thoughts go out the the family and friends of the victim.
