Boating accident causes Michigan woman to lose part of leg
On Sunday afternoon, a 23-year-old Kalamazoo woman was injured in a boating accident on Austin Lake in Portage.
The woman had been riding on a tube behind a boat when the driver of the boat stopped to pick up people in the water. The driver began backing up, forgetting the woman on the tube.
The current created by the watercraft pulled the woman into the propeller of the boat, underneath the water’s surface. Fortunately, people on the boat were able to bring her aboard and call for help. The woman lost her lower leg up to her knee in the accident accident. She is listed in serious condition at a local hospital.
