Man’s family files wrongful death suit against nursing home

The family of former Detroit restaurant owner Kerfoot Lewis has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the nursing home where he passed his final months.

Lewis was a resident of the Henry Ford Village Nursing Home in Dearborn. In April, his family was called in to the home where they found him in pain with a large bruise on his arm and contusions on his wrists. The family took him to a hospital, where it was discovered that his hematoma was the result of a broken arm.

nursing home neglect deathThis raised a lot of questions among Lewis’ many children, some of whom are well known in Detroit, including his son, Deputy Mayor Kirk Lewis, and daughter Krista Conyers. Lewis, aged 90, was bedridden, so how could he have broken his arm without outside interference? Lewis never fully recovered from his arm injury and died two months later.

Nursing home abuse occurs at shockingly high rates in the United States. The National Center for Biotechnology Information has found that as many as 21% of nursing home residents suffered some form of neglect within the last year. Conyers entrusted Lewis’ care to the center, who promised to give him ample attention. Finding him in pain with a broken arm was a betrayal of her trust and is indicative that he may have been neglected.

After months of seeking answers to their concerns about the circumstances surrounding their father’s death, the Lewis family has had enough. They have filed a wrongful death lawsuit because the nursing home would not furnish them with any records or verbal information about how it treated Lewis.

Coping with the loss of a loved one is not easy, especially with the frustrating understanding that the loss should never have occurred. We hope that Lewis’ family can find closure despite the trying circumstances of his death. nike air max 1 nike air max 1 nike air max 1

NFL concussion-related lawsuits may change after death of Ray Easterling

Former Atlanta Falcon player, Ray Easterling, was one of the lead plaintiffs in a personal injury lawsuit against the National Football League that stated that the organization’s carelessness caused football players to suffer serious head injuries when not protected after concussions occurred.

Last week, the 62-year-old Easterling was found dead in his home after suffering from what looks like a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His family stated that Easterling has been struggling mentally for the past six  months.

Easterling was one of six football players who was involved in a suit representing over 1,260 former NFL players. The lawsuit may now change from a personal injury lawsuit to a wrongful death lawsuit. airmaxszapatos airmaxszapatos airmaxszapatos

Supreme Court to hear wrongful death case

The Michigan Supreme Court will hear the wrongful death lawsuit a family has filed against two 911 operators after they delayed sending help to a caller.

In 2006, a then 5 year-old boy called 911 after his mother had collapsed. The first operator scolded the boy, believing it was a prank call, and did not send police. The boy then called back three hours later and a different dispatcher answered the call. She also believed it to be a prank, but sent an officer over.

By that time the boy’s 46 year-old mother had already died of a heart condition. Both dispatchers want the suit appealed, claiming their actions do not qualify as gross negligence. pandora pulseras abalorios pandora pulseras abalorios pandora pulseras abalorios

The product’s manufacturer issued a recall of 30,000 Nap Nanny’s after the infant’s death.  According to the lawsuit, the manufacturer was negligent in not including information or proper warning labels on the product or its packaging concerning suffocation hazard. pulsera pandora barata pulsera pandora barata pulsera pandora barata

Parents blame Four Loko for death of son

The parents of a 15-year-old Virginia teen have filed a wrongful death lawsuit after their son became paranoid and was struck by  a vehicle after drinking the potent alcoholic beverage, Four Loko.

The parents have sued the makers of the drink, Phusion Projects, for their son’s death. They claim that the drink is marketed to young people by using bright colors and fruity flavors that help to mask the effects of the alcohol.

The drink is approximately equivalent to five beers and a Starbucks coffee. The teen’s parents claim that their son did not know how the beverage would affect him. The product has since been banned in many states and the makers of the beverage have changed the recipe after it was blamed in cases of alcohol poisoning.

In this case, the 15-year-old boy purchased two beverages from a convenient store and drank them before a concert. He was then kicked out of the concert for being intoxicated and his mother came to pick him up. While driving home, he became paranoid and jumped out of the car. He was then struck by an SUV and died one day later.

Family files wrongful death suit against General Motors

A Texas family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against General Motors after their family member was killed in a rollover accident in April 2010.

The accident occurred on U.S. Highway 87 when the man fell asleep at the wheel on his way home from work in Port Lavaca. During the accident, the supporting structures of the car including the roof, crashed inwards and the airbag system and seat belt also did not keep him restrained.

The plaintiffs claim that General Motors is to blame for the accident because of the instability of the vehicle, the lack of crash-worthiness, and a failed restraint system.

Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim at this time. michael kors tasche jet set michael kors tasche jet set michael kors tasche jet set
