Driver Causes Accident After Falling Asleep at the Wheel

An 18-wheeler driver caused a fiery truck accident after falling asleep at the wheel while driving on Interstate 94.

According to police officials, the accident occurred just after 5:30 a.m. when the driver apparently fell asleep and crashed through the median wall as a result.

After colliding into the wall, the trailer remained on the freeway while the cab went near the railroad bridge.

After coming to a stop the cab of the truck caught fire. When emergency crews arrived at the crash site, the truck driver was transported to the hospital in order to be treated for injuries including a broken ankle.

There were no other injuries reported in the collision. After the accident occurred, dozens of cars were forced to slam on their brakes in order to avoid an accident. Semi-Truck Accident Closes Detroit Highway For 5 Hours

Around 5:30 a.m. in Detroit on Thursday morning, a semi-truck driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a median on Interstate 94. The median where the truck driver crashed was close to the Livernois Road overpass. The impact of the crash was so intense that the eastbound and westbound lanes of Interstate 94 between Warren Street and Livernois were closed for more than five hours while the damage was assessed.

Holland Semi-Truck Collision Backs Up Intersection Traffic

A semi-truck accident in Holland, Mich. caused the closure of a busy, downtown intersection and resulted in a large traffic buildup.
