Detroit Car Accident Sends 3 to Hospital

Three people were injured in a three-vehicle accident outside of Detroit Tuesday morning.

Officials with the Michigan State Patrol say the accident occurred shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Highway 59 South. A southbound 1994 Ford Escort stopped abruptly to make a left turn onto County Road 22 and was rear-ended by a 1993 Buick Park Avenue, which was then struck from behind by a 1994 Chevy pickup truck, according to the accident report.

The driver of the Park Avenue and two passengers were transported by St. Mary’s Ambulance to St. Mary’s Essentia hospital in Detroit Lakes.

The driver of the Ford Escort, 35 year-old Anthony R. Goulet, of Detroit Lakes, was not injured in the accident. Police say 41 year-old Frazee-resident Christopher D. Wacker was the driver of the pickup truck. His injuries were not documented in the police report.

The Becker County Sheriff’s Department continues to investigate the crash.
