Father leaves children after hit-and-run

At 2:45pm on Wednesday, a driver crossed over the median at Chandler Park and Chalmers, struck a car, and fled the scene leaving his two daughters in the car.

Police have not released the identity of the hit-and-run driver, but Detroit Police Officer Dan Donakowski stated, “He didn’t stop at the accident scene, but after he fled, his tire blew out and he finally came to a stop in the 5000 block of Phillips,” Donakowski said. “Then he got out of the car and took off on foot, leaving his two daughters behind.”

One child was a toddler, and the other an infant.
