Dwight Howard, a professional basketball player for the National Basketball Association, is recovering well after undergoing surgery for a herniated disc in his back.

The Orlando Magic forward, who has been deemed an All-Star in his profession, suffered from a herniated disc in his lower back based on the sport that he is involved with. This injury has caused Howard to be sidelined for the rest of the season, as well as the summer Olympics.

He had arthroscopic surgery for his herniated disc, and he is hopeful to complete the recovery phase in a four month time frame. He believes he will make a full return to the game, and that his back injury will not be an issue in the next NBA season.

Herniated discs can occur as a result of lifting heavy materials, or the overuse and twisting of the back. If you have suffered from a herniated disc due to a work-related incident, please contact the Detroit personal injury lawyers of Ravid & Associates, P.C. by calling 866-644-6587 today.

Ilya Kovalchuk, the New Jersey Devils forward, has revealed that the mystery injury which caused him to miss a game is actually a herniated disc in his back.

The professional hockey player had been playing through the pain, but the pain recently became too severe. He was unable to play in the second game of the playoffs for his team.

Kovalchuk made the decision himself to return to the ice, and put his name on the roster for Thursday’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers. He told his coach that he felt fine, and that he was ready to begin contributing to his team again. At this time his sole focus is the playoffs, and he will determine if he needs surgery for the herniated disc after the season has ended.

Workplace accidents can result in herniated discs quite frequently. These injuries can cause severe discomfort, and may even lead to a person being unfit to return to work. If you have suffered a herniated disc as the result of a workplace injury, please contact the Detroit workers’ compensation lawyers of Ravid & Associates, P.C. by calling 866-644-6587 today.

A recent study done on the number of Americans that suffer from chronic neck or back pain and one-third of Americans in their 50s have stated that they do.

The study showed that a similar number of Americans report about chronic knee and leg pain. Data shows that chronic pain conditions increase the most between 25 and 60. After this, the pain only increases slightly if at all.

This data was collected by surveying more than 353,000 adults that are 18 or older. Researchers asked people to state whether they had back, neck, knee or leg pain sometime within the past 12 months.

In 2011, nearly 31 percent of Americans stated that they suffer from reoccurring neck and back pain, 26 percent stated that they suffered from knee or leg pain and 18 percent suffered from another type of reoccurring pain.

If you or a loved one has suffered from chronic pain after being involved in an accident, contact the Detroit chronic pain lawyers of Ravid & Associates, P.C.,by calling 866-644-6587.

Former Atlanta Falcon player, Ray Easterling, was one of the lead plaintiffs in a personal injury lawsuit against the National Football League that stated that the organization’s carelessness caused football players to suffer serious head injuries when not protected after concussions occurred.

Last week, the 62-year-old Easterling was found dead in his home after suffering from what looks like a self-inflicted gunshot wound. His family stated that Easterling has been struggling mentally for the past six months.

Easterling was one of six football players who was involved in a suit representing over 1,260 former NFL players. The lawsuit may now change from a personal injury lawsuit to a wrongful death lawsuit.

Two firefighters were killed in a workplace accident in the early morning hours on Monday. The firefighters were responding to a call about a rampant fire in an abandoned warehouse in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

They tried to contain the fire in the six-story building, but it quickly spread to surrounding areas. Five of the firefighters chose to enter a close building in order to figure out the cause of the extended fire. They shortly became trapped in the furniture store after the expanding fire caused one of the building’s walls to collapse.

As a result of the accident, a 25-year-old firefighter and a 60-year-old veteran firefighter lost their lives. One man was able to escape before he sustained injuries, and the other two men received life-threatening injuries. Investigators are currently investigating the cause of the deadly flames.

Last week, BMW announced a voluntary recall of 367,000 models that they sold in the United States. These cars were part of the international recall that reached 1.3 million vehicles worldwide.

The recall came after a thorough investigation of claims regarding the safety of a battery cable connector. These batteries can be found in the trunk of the 5 Series and 6 Series models, and can create hazards for the owners. Complaints regarding the wiring of the battery led BMW to recall the vehicles in order to repair the problems.

A mechanical issue with the wiring of these models can lead to overheating, and, on rare occasions, fires. BMW has begun notifying the owners of these defective automobiles. Dealers associated with BMW will be able to fix the glitches free of charge in the United States. No injuries have currently been reported in regards to the recall.

Please contact the Detroit manufacturing defect lawyers of Ravid & Associates, P.C. by calling 866-644-6587 if you or a loved one has been injured due to a manufacturing defect on an automobile.

The alerts will feature food products such as meats, poultry and eggs as well as how you can protect food during harsh weather conditions. Each state-specific Twitter account will feature two letters of the state name, an underscore and will be followed by FSISALERT.
