According to Pfizer officials, the recalled birth control packs could potentially have the incorrect ratio of hormone pills to sugar pills because of a packaging error that has since been fixed.  The packs should have 21 hormone pills and 7 sugar pills.

If oral contraceptives are not taken in the correct amount, order, or at the same time every day, their ability to prevent pregnancy decreases.  As a result, packages that do not contain the correct amounts of pills put women at greater risk of accidental pregnancy.

Pfizer issued a statement about the recall that reads, “As a result of this packaging error, the daily regimen for these oral contraceptives may be incorrect and could leave women without adequate contraception, and at risk for unintended pregnancy.  These packaging defects do not pose any immediate health risks.”

Women who rely on the recalled birth control products to prevent pregnancy should begin using other contraception immediately.

The patient went to the hospital for gastric bypass surgery in March 2007, but suffered complications afterward.  Court documents stated that these complications were not diagnosed or treated in a timely manner.  As a result, the plaintiff suffered brain damage and lost his hearing and vision.  He is now confined to a wheel chair and needs constant care.

The 3rd annual march is sponsored by Detroit Public Schools.  Both students and adults were in attendance to celebrate the legacy of civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  Inside the school, volunteers registered students turning 18-years old before the November presidential election to vote.

According to consumer complaints, some of the airbags in the recalled vehicles release flying pieces of metal when deployed.  The airbag defect has injured 12 people and killed at least 1 person.

Vehicles involved in the recall include Honda Acuras, Accords, Civics, Odysseys, and Pilots.  Used car dealerships have been asked to stop selling Honda models involved in the recall until any air bag defects are fixed.

Owners of recalled Honda vehicles should have been notified by the car manufacturer about the airbag defect.

In 2006, a then 5 year-old boy called 911 after his mother had collapsed. The first operator scolded the boy, believing it was a prank call, and did not send police. The boy then called back three hours later and a different dispatcher answered the call. She also believed it to be a prank, but sent an officer over.

By that time the boy’s 46 year-old mother had already died of a heart condition. Both dispatchers want the suit appealed, claiming their actions do not qualify as gross negligence.

The “Colorful Hearts Teddy Bears” are the object of the recall. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the bears’ eyes could come off and become a choking hazard for young children. There have been no reports of injuries because of the recall.

The “Colorful Hearts Teddy Bears” are white with multicolored hearts on the body. The teddy bear was sold online and in Build-A-Bear Workshop stores from April to December this year in the United States and Canada. Consumers who have purchased the “Colorful Hearts Teddy Bear” can return it to any Build-A-Bear location and exchange it for a coupon for any stuffed animal.

The teenager underwent surgery to remove her wisdom teeth on March 28 and due to complications during the surgery, died 10 days later. While she was under anesthesia her heart rate as well as her blood oxygen level decreased dramatically and the oral surgeon and anesthesiologist failed to take the necessary steps to improve those dropping numbers.

Her parents believe that if the doctors would have paid more attention to emergency signs during the surgery, their daughter would still be with them today. They hope that their dental malpractice lawsuit sheds light on the dangers of the dental industry.

Also last week, local marines and police officers hosted the 10th annual Shop with a Hero event.  The event pairs a law enforcement officer or marine with a kid and together they go shopping for the holidays.

Lastly, the Michigan Humane Society in Detroit is promoting a campaign called “12 Days of Catmas.”  The campaign encourages Michigan residents to consider animal adoption during the holidays.  In cold weather months, the Human Society find the most homeless animals.

The product’s manufacturer issued a recall of 30,000 Nap Nanny’s after the infant’s death.  According to the lawsuit, the manufacturer was negligent in not including information or proper warning labels on the product or its packaging concerning suffocation hazard.

A passenger inside the car was listed in critical condition. According to police, the driver ran away before authorities arrived on the scene. A fire began in the damaged mobile home and spread to the neighboring home.

Authorities reported that the driver has stated he was not involved in the crash.
