Grandmother Killed, Grandson Injured in Detroit Car Accident
A grandmother was killed, and her grandson seriously injured Monday afternoon in a Detroit car accident, authorities say.
According to officials with the Detroit Police Department, the accident occurred on the Interstate 96 service drive shortly after 4:00 p.m. Monday. Police say the 53 year-old woman was driving a Ford Explorer SUV when she apparently lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and struck a tree between Outer Drive and Evergreen Avenue. The vehicle came to rest on it’s side.
The woman’s nine year-old grandson suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Sgt. Eren Stephens said.
Neither occupant of the vehicle was reportedly wearing a seat belt. The victims names and other information were not immediately available.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their family.
