High school student killed after boating accident

A sophomore at Dexter High School was killed from injuries suffered in a boat accident last weekend.

According to officials from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and Environment, the 15-year-old was driving a small jet boat when it collided with another boat. The impact caused the larger boat to run over the smaller boat.

Three others were in the boat, but they each suffered non-life threatening injuries. No people in the larger boat sustained any injuries. The investigation into the accident is still currently underway.

Boating accidents can cause serious injury to all involved, our thoughts are with the friends and family of the victim.
