Roller blader injured in pedestrian accident
16-year old Landon Carl Hochstetler of Ogema, Minnesota was roller blading along Highway 34 near Strawberry Lake last Monday when he was hit by a car.
Hochstetler and a friend were roller blading near the westbound lanes of the highway when a vehicle driven by 30-year old Ross Thomas Dodd hit him. According to officials from Becker County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 8 PM when Dodd, also traveling westbound, struck Hochstetler and then continued into a ditch in order to try to avoid the teens.
Hochstetler suffered serious injuries in the pedestrian accident and was airlifted from a Detroit Lakes hospital to the ICU at North Memorial Hospital in Minneapolis. Later reports state that Hochstetler is now in stable condition.
Dodd was driving without a valid driver’s license.
