Month of November Has Most Deer-Car Collisions

Officials from State Farm Insurance have used information collected by the Federal Highway Administration in order to calculate the number of deer and car collisions that occur in the state of Michigan. According to data, the most common month for a collision to occur between a deer and a car is November and officials are hoping this report will help remind drivers to pay extra attention to the roadways.

This year, information shows that a Michigan driver has odds of 1 in 72 to strike a deer. This number is compared to last year’s 1 in 83 motorists. Another report was recently released by the Michigan Deer Crash Coalition that showed that deer and car collisions have decreased by four percent in 2011 compared to 2010.

While this may be true, officials added that many collisions involving deers are not reported so the actual numbers may be much higher.

The five counties in the state with the  most accidents are Kent, Oakland, Jackson, Calhoun and Montcalm. Nearly 18 percent of all deer-car collisions in the state occur in the month of November.

The month of October has the second highest rate of deer collisions. Officials are reminding drivers that deer usually travel in groups so if you see one, there are usually more following.

Also, deer are most active between the hours of 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. so make sure to use high beam lights to brighten the area. Finally, officials are reminding drivers that deer whistles mounted on vehicles are not 100 percent effective. nike air max 97 nike air max 97 nike air max 97

Lansing motorcycle pothole accident lawsuit allowed to continue

The Michigan court of appeals has allowed a Lansing man’s lawsuit to continue by after it was initially dismissed by a judge for having slightly wrong information.

The man was hurt when he was thrown off of his motorcycle after hitting a dangerous pothole that caused him to lose control of the bike. The pothole was in the westbound lane, but the man’s lawsuit mistakenly said the hole was in the eastbound lane. This inaccuracy allowed the judge to completely dismiss the case.

What are IUDs and why are people filing lawsuits about them?

Intrauterine devices (IUDs) are an increasingly popular contraceptive. An IUD is a small, T-shaped bit of plastic that is inserted into a woman’s uterus to prevent pregnancy. While some forms of the device release hormones to help accomplish this end, IUDs primarily block sperm from reaching an egg cell. One IUD can last a woman anywhere between five and 12 years.

IUD lawsuitMirena IUDs received FDA approval to be used for birth control in 2000. Since then, it has also been approved as a means to treat heavy menstrual bleeding for women.

However, their great popularity does not necessarily mean intrauterine devices are safe. Many women have filed lawsuits alleging that their Mirena IUDs have caused them injuries. These lawsuits often assert that the devices can perforate the uterus, causing immense pain and other complications.

The manufacturer of Mirena IUDs, Bayer Healthcare Pharmaceuticals, is no stranger to controversy. In 2009, the company received a warning from the FDA about overstated or false claims made about its pharmaceutical product. These claims included insinuations that using an IUD can improve a woman’s sex life.

Pharmaceutical manufacturers have an obligation to ensure that their products are safe for use and are legally required to only make claims that are objectively true in their marketing. If you have been injured by a pharmaceutical product, you may be able to hold its maker accountable. Wrongful death lawsuit filed after veteran overdoses

The sister of a Navy veteran who committed suicide by overdosing on her anti-psychotic medication has filed a $5 million wrongful death lawsuit against the hospital that prescribed the drug. According to the lawsuit, the veteran was prescribed Seroquel to treat her severe depression, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder upon returning from duty. She was first given a 30-day supply and then upgraded to a 60-day supply in 2010. However, upon her upgrade to a 60-day supply, the doctor then immediately gave her another 60-day batch.

Less than a month later, the woman ingested all or most of her 120-day supply of Seroquel and died. Her family claims the hospital was negligent in prescribing her so much of the medication because she had previously tried to commit suicide with Seroquel three times earlier that year. In 2009, the woman was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder and considered a suicide risk.

The Daily Press reports that the family is also accusing the hospital of a standard of care breach when its employees prescribed the veteran a quadruple supply Seroquel. She also had a history of paranoid delusions in which she believed the CIA was watching her and taping her inside her house. The hospital has denied the accusations of negligence.

If the death of a family member or loved one was caused by the negligence or carelessness of another individual, you do not have to suffer through this difficult time alone. Filing a wrongful death lawsuit with the aid of an experienced attorney can help you ensure justice is served and that you are provided with the compensation you need. air max 97 air max 97 air max 97

Salmonella risk causes voluntary spinach recall

There is a random sample testing program in the United States that was put in place by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in order to maintain safeness of food products. One of these random sample tests was recently conducted using Fresh Express Spinach, and the results indicated that the spinach was positive for salmonella.

As a result of this testing, Fresh Express Incorporated has voluntary recalled a certain amount of its Fresh Express Spinach. The spinach leaves that are affected by the recall have a product code of S299B25, a use-by date of November 7, and come in nine ounce bags. No other products produced by the company are involved in the recall.

Customer service representatives for Fresh Express have begun the process of notifying grocery stores that carry the possibly contaminated spinach, and are making sure that the bags are not on the shelves for consumer purchase. According to Fresh Express, the spinach salad bags were mainly distributed in the western part of the United States.

Fresh Express has stated that consumers who are in possession of these recalled bags should not consume the product, but instead throw it away. The company will award these individuals a refund for the full amount of the product.
